Today was a focused day in Primary 7, with all our attention and efforts on World Book Day. Over the last few days we have prepared to make today a day about books and reading.
We have heard from our teacher about the special visit from Author Ed Wicke.
Our class looked through Ed's books and autobiography, reading interviews with him so we are prepared to question and chat to him.
Our teacher has read extracts of "Billy Jones King of the Goblins" to us.
We brought in our own choice of reading material and were given time in class to spend leisurely reading.
We got to share about our favourite books and authors, finding out new ones too.
For those who aren't enthused readers our teacher showed us "Jackanory" a TV programme our parents may have watched. This gave people who didn't like reading a chance to hear the stories. We listened to the Gruffalo and one read by a man called Kenneth Williams.
Now we are looking at books every child should read and seeing how many we have encountered. Maybe give us ideas for something new to discover.
And all this before we even get to meet Ed Wicke....
