Miss Wilson's trip to Myanmar
Miss Wilson had a brilliant trip to Myanmar over half term. She was involved in training the teachers in Destiny Academy Private School for five days and she also got to teach in the Kindergarten classes (similar age to P1).
It was very special for her to visit the Stand By Me Yangon Children's Village where she got to meet her sponsor child and she was able to bring lots of craft activities for the children. These were purchased with the money raised by the pupils of our school from the Christmas elf which totalled £327. There were 43 children in the orphanage so she was also able to give money from our fundraising to buy a pair of shoes for each child (this was in connection with Movilla High School - as a teacher from there was on the team). It cost £8 for a pair of shoes.
At the weekends she was able to go and visit children in different churches. One of the churches was in Dainsuh slum, the other churches had to be reached by a 3 hour boat trip down the Irrawaddy river and a 7 hour bus trip.
Miss Wilson wants to say a special thank you to everyone who gave money for guessing the elf's name as she knows that it has made a difference in the children's lives in Myanmar.
