Fuelling the Fun in P6
10th Oct 2024
We made the most of the great weather and went out to the pitch to make rockets using vinegar and baking soda as part of our topic work on Space. We made rockets using plastic bottles and a cork, then stuck canes at the bottom to make a launch platform.
The boys and girls learnt that when vinegar mixes with baking soda it produces a gas that will force the cork out of the bottle and propel the rocket into the sky. We experimented with different sizes of bottles and increased the amounts of baking soda. The final rocket definitely was reaching for the stars, just like us!
We had a blast!
