Our vision
Edenderry Primary School’s vision is to create an environment where children are safe, happy, and physically and emotionally healthy. We believe in providing a curriculum that is relevant, child-centred, holistic, inclusive, and flexible to meet the individual needs of each child. We prioritise and emphasise relationships over rules and believe that fostering strong connections between children, staff, parents and the community is essential for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
We are committed to creating a learning environment where every child is included and valued equally. Our planning, teaching, and assessment methods are designed to lead to success for every child, ensuring that they have the tools and support they need to reach their full potential.
In addition to academic growth, we place an important emphasis on the development of a Christian ethos, nurturing the spiritual and moral values of our children. We warmly welcome children with other faiths, beliefs and cultures by fostering an inclusive and respectful environment that promotes understanding, tolerance and appreciation for diversity. We also believe in fostering positive staff relationships based on trust, creating a thoughtful, patient, supportive and collaborative atmosphere among our teaching and non-teaching staff.
We actively encourage community contributions, recognising the importance of involving parents/carers and the wider community in our school's journey. We regularly review our facilities and resources to ensure they meet the evolving needs of our children and provide a conducive learning environment. We also prioritise the use of the outdoor environment, providing regular and consistent opportunities for children to connect with nature and engage in experiential learning.
Recognising the importance of digital skills in today's world, we emphasise the development of digital literacy among our children, equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape responsibly and effectively. In particular, we recognise the value of learning opportunities for children to explore and develop their talents through physical education and the arts. Through curricular and extra-curricular participation in sports and creative arts, our children learn teamwork, discipline, and self-expression.
The safety of our children and staff is of utmost importance to us. We continuously review and improve our safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure and nurturing environment for everyone in our school community.
The staff, as individuals, recognise the importance of actively developing our personal creativity and our ability to research, communicate, problem solve, collaborate and lead. As a school, we recognise the importance of staff professional learning opportunities, and we are committed to providing our staff with ongoing professional development so they are equipped to deliver high-quality education.
Overall, the Edenderry vision encompasses the holistic development of our children, fostering a love for learning, and preparing them to become responsible and compassionate members of society.
